WHO THIS AIRSTREAM IS FOR:

Our Airstream has a warm, cozy feel with real wood on the walls and desktop. If you're looking for a plain, white interior… this isn't it. This trailer isn't flawless. It has traveled! And it has a few exterior dents and scuffs to prove it. It hasn't sat in storage being admired. It's been lived in. But it's also been well loved and taken care of.

My wife and I worked from the road and travelled with two cats. And this Airstream was renovated to address those needs. We've never seen another Airstream with a setup quite like ours.

So if you're looking for an Airstream that's unique, keep reading. This one might be for you!

We bought this Safari in December 2016. We lived and worked in it from the road, full-time, from 2017 to 2020. Everything unusual about it exists because we needed to address practical issues – like storage and critter comforts. ‍

THE OFFICE:

We built a custom butcher-block desk that seats two people comfortably side by side, running along the driver's-side window bank. Not a fold-down. Not a converted dinette you have to clear off at dinner. A real, permanent, solid-wood work surface with built-in drawers underneath and a wall of windows in front of it.

Two people can work a full day at it without being in each other's way, then close laptops and eat dinner at the dinette without moving a thing. Three years of full-time remote work went into getting that right.

Paired with the WeBoost 4G cell booster (installed, working, conveys), this trailer is a genuinely functional office in places where your phone shows one bar. That combination is what made living and working out of it possible.

THE CAT SYSTEM:

If you have cats, you'll appreciate this…

The litter box does not live inside the trailer. We built cat doors leading from the interior into one of the exterior storage compartments, and the litter box lives out there. The cats come and go through the interior doors whenever they want. They cannot get out of the trailer – the doors lead only into the enclosed exterior compartment, which is finished and lined.

So there's no litter box smell inside, no box underfoot in 200 square feet, and no tracked litter across the floor. It solved the single worst problem of full-timing with cats.

If you don't have a cat, this is your sign to get one.

BEDROOM – FACTORY TWINS, REBUILT:

This is a factory front twin-bed 27FB.

I rebuilt both bed platforms during the renovation and raised them about 6 inches. They're noticeably sturdier than stock, and the lift provides a large amount of under-bed storage that wasn't there from the factory. There's a nightstand cubby with outlets between the beds.

Two notes:

– The rebuild was my own work, not a shop's. It's solid and it's held up through years of use.

– The mattresses are standard house memory foam mattresses that we trimmed to fit with an electric knife – the front outside corners are rounded to follow the shell. The mattresses come with it. We've always used them with mattress covers, and we keep things pretty clean and tidy… so the mattresses are clean and relatively new (purchased May 2022).

INTERIOR & RENOVATION:

Renovated between 2017 and 2019, and done to live in rather than to flip.

– Stikwood solid-wood plank accent walls throughout

– Konecto luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout

– Custom butcher-block two-person desk with built-in drawers

– Telescoping pedestal dinette table – drops to convert the rear lounge

– Cushions reupholstered with custom, genuine leather covers; customized curtains

– Rear lounge with leather seating and panoramic rear window

– Storage added throughout – under beds, seating area, and desk

The rear lounge is the best seat in the trailer: panoramic glass on three sides. And with the pedestal table lowered, it's a very comfortable place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Appliances

• – Suburban 3-burner range and oven – new in 2018
• – Coleman Mach 15 rooftop air conditioner – complete replacement in 2017. Cools well.
• – Two-door refrigerator/freezer, runs on LP and electric – professionally serviced 2023 (auto/gas control board replaced)
• – Microwave in slide-out cabinet
• – Range hood, deep stainless sink, pull-down sprayer faucet

WATER & PLUMBING – SUBSTANTIALLY RENEWED IN 2025:

In January 2025, a hard freeze during a winter storm damaged the water heater and the toilet supply line. We replaced all affected systems:

– Girard tankless (on-demand) water heater, 42,000 BTU – installed January 2025. Endless hot water.

– Thetford Aqua-Magic VI toilet – new January 2025

– Dura Faucet kitchen faucet with pull-down sprayer – new January 2025

– Dura Faucet bathroom faucet – new January 2025

– damaged PEX supply lines re-run – February 2025

ELECTRICAL & CONNECTIVITY:

– 30-amp shore power, city water and standard hookups – connections clean and corrosion-free

– Deep-cycle house batteries replaced 2023

– WeBoost 4G cell booster – installed, working, and included

– LP system well maintained – new LP and leak detectors, regulator, pigtails, dual tanks (2022

Exterior

• Safari Special Edition shell, 27 feet, tandem axle, stored covered when not in use

RUNNING GEAR, BRAKES & TOWING:

– Brakes and shoes replaced 2022

– Wheel bearings repacked annually during high mileage years, last completed January 2025

– Full dual-axle inspection October 2023 – all four wheels pulled, bearings cleaned and repacked, one chipped bearing found and replaced, brakes cleaned and adjusted

– Dual Dexter torsion axles, original to the trailer, inspected with wheels off in 2023 with no issues found

– Alloy wheels – A-frame jack replaced 2019

Included: weight-distribution hitch with bars and shank, WeBoost booster, fresh water hoses, pressure regulator, shore power cords, wheel chocks and leveling blocks. Genuinely turn-key – hitch up and go camping the same weekend.

DISCLOSURES:

Tires. The five Michelin Defender LTX 235/75R15 (four plus spare) were bought new in June 2017. Tread is good, but the date codes are 2017 – nine years, and RV tires age out regardless of tread. Budget for a new set; the asking price reflects that.

Axles. Original to the trailer. Inspected with the wheels off in 2023 and nothing flagged, but they are 19 years old.

Cosmetic condition. This is a 19-year-old aluminum trailer that has been used. There are small dents and scrapes here and there, and light wear on the lower rear skirt. Nothing structural, nothing that affects how it tows or lives, but it's not flawless. I have detailed photos of everything and I'm happy to send additional photos to anyone interested.

Pets. We travelled with dogs and cats. No odors or damage.

The bed rebuild was my own work, as described above.

Completely non-smoking.
